It has been a long term vision of Laura's to bring together her knowledge and experience with health and safety with her passion for horses. Established in 2020, Cheval Safety based in Wiltshire is an Equestrian Health and Safety Service with an aim to increase health and safety awareness in the equine community.

Having worked with horses all her life (from competing in British Dressage, Eventing, BSJA and as a happy hacker), and working on establishing and implementing safety plans and risk assessments over a number of years within the Ministry of Defence, Laura is really pleased to be able to offer her expertise in health, safety and risk management to the benefit of equestrian livery yards, racing yards and studs within the UK.

Laura conducts risk assessments, COSHH assessments, health and safety policies and procedures for a safer environmental for all, and ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Health and Safety Law.

Qualifications and Experience

Laura is a Full Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) gained through Systems Safety exams and Continuous Professional Development by regularly conducting risk assessments, COSHH assessments, running hazard identification meetings and implementing Safety and Environmental Management Plans for a number of years within the Defence Industry and as a health and safety contractor. In addition, Laura holds the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) Managing Safely qualification.

An experienced Safety professional with a demonstrated history of working in the Ministry of Defence as a Safety and Environmental Manager and in industry as a Senior Safety consultant, Laura is highly skilled in conducting both routine occupational risk assessments and equipment system safety assessments for complex systems which have ranged from Airfield Buildings to the Ship and Aviation Safety Manager for HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier.
